Insurance & Payment Options

We are in network with more than 70 health plans, including Medicare, Texas Medicaid and CHIP managed care plans, and most major commercial carriers. Our team verifies your benefits before your first visit, so you know what to expect before care begins.

How insurance works for chiropractic care

Most health plans cover chiropractic care when it is medically necessary, meaning it treats a specific condition and helps you improve. What you pay at each visit depends on a few parts of your plan:

  • Deductible – the amount you pay each year before your plan starts sharing costs.

  • Copay – a flat fee per visit, such as $30 or $50.

  • Coinsurance – a percentage of the allowed amount you pay after meeting your deductible, such as 20%.

  • Out-of-pocket maximum – the most you pay in a plan year; after that, covered care is paid at 100%.

  • Visit limits – many plans allow a set number of chiropractic visits per year.

When we are in network, we bill your plan at a contracted rate. You pay only your share of that rate, never the difference between our fee and the contracted amount.

Why coverage varies from plan to plan

Two people with the same insurance company can have very different benefits. Your coverage is set by your specific plan, not just the carrier name on your card. Common differences include:

  • Plan type – HMO plans often require a referral from your primary care physician. PPO plans usually let you see us directly.

  • Employer choices – employers choose which benefits to include, so chiropractic coverage can differ even within the same carrier.

  • Covered services – some plans cover adjustments only. Others also cover exams, X-rays, therapy, and rehabilitative exercise.

  • Prior authorization – some plans require approval before care begins or after a set number of visits.

  • Third-party administrators – some plans route chiropractic benefits through a separate company, such as American Specialty Health.

  • Plan-year changes – benefits often reset or change on January 1 or at your employer's renewal date.

Because of these differences, we always verify benefits with your plan directly. A verification is an estimate, not a guarantee of payment; your plan makes the final decision when a claim is processed.

Medicare and Medicare Advantage

Original Medicare (Part B) covers chiropractic spinal manipulation to correct a subluxation when it is medically necessary. It does not cover exams, X-rays, massage, or other therapies performed by a chiropractor. If you receive a service Medicare does not cover, we will review it with you first and ask you to sign an Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) before that service is provided.

Medicare Advantage plans (such as BlueCross BlueShield, UnitedHealthcare, Wellcare, and others) must cover at least what Original Medicare covers. Some include extra chiropractic benefits, often managed through a separate administrator.
